"Le Bardo"
Joris Mathieu / Cie Haut et Court
First production / Theatre
25, 26, 27 & 28 March 2010
In Tibetan, the word Bardo represents the area linking the world of the living to that of the dead. Joris Mathieu and Antoine Volodine invite us to open doors and to go through 5 fictional chambers, in which reality is blurred - with holograms, projections, actors, and dummies, and in which our perception shifts and the journey becomes bewildering.
Le Bardo is an endless project, a novel poetic landscape that aims at creating 7 chambers in total in 5 countries: France, Belgium, Romania, Tunisia, Estonia.
Parcours
The company Haut et Court has been established in the Rhône-Alpes region since 1997. From the start, it has been working from the standpoint of an ‘extra-ordinary’ theatre by inviting fiction into our everyday lives. The company champions narrative forms based on a strong visual and sensory environment. Its ideas on the use of videos mean that they are viewed as a narrative tool, free from their mere functional, technological use. Novels and short stories are at the source of its theatrical offerings, in the form of stage adaptations.
