Simple benches become circus apparatuses, supports for acrobatics. Bancs publics is an urban piece for four circus artists and one musician, who transform our perception of this modest urban staple, the public bench. Who will, after this show, expect to be able to sit peacefully in a public park?
In residence: 16 Sept - 11 Oct 2009
Background
Aurélie and Martin (acrobats) met in 2000 at the Circus School of Chambéry. They soon formed the company Virevolt. Taking their inspiration from their relation, they created their first production in 2002: Entre Deux, an acrobatic aerial act for two, examined the concept of trust and defined a primary framework. Later (in 2007), they created in partnership with other circus artists the show Hors Piste, which mixed circus, theatre and music.
