"COLOR VOICE :
MICRO INTERACTIF À SUJET VARIABLE"
COMPAGNIE XLR PROJECT /
NICOLAS TICOT
Interactive installation
25, 26 & 27 March 2010
Al Fresco
Where reality turns into pictures, pictures can become real beings. COLOR VOICE is a playful and interactive audiovisual installation. At the centre of this installation is a microphone. The spectator is invited to participate, to question and to fill the space. Through his actions, he has an impact on the environment. Nicolas Ticot and his team have asked Jean-Pierre Balpe to work on the topic of metalanguage*.
Thanks to an interactive device designed by XLR, which integrates the system created by J-P Balpe** to generate automatic text, we will introduce on stage a virtual character. Two devices forming one relationship between literature and the spectacular.
* Metalanguage is a language used to describe another language.
** Jean-Pierre Balpe, Officer of the National Order of Arts and Letters, is a poet and researcher in the field of relations between literature and computer science.
Background
XLR PROJECT was founded in 1999 by Nicolas Ticot. After experiencing (from 1996 onwards) with VJing, stage design and audiovisual live events, XLR Project has produced since its inception artistic projects in digital art, multimedia and performance art. Their approach has always been to work with people they met on the way. XLR works as much in official settings as underground, for public and private events, from traditional to experimental, to experience various fields of artistic and philosophical experience. It comes from an interdisciplinary background, and as such has worked with digital technologies in all its forms (shows, Net art, installations, performance art, video art, etc.). Future projects: Generative Images at the Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama Japan, a collaboration with the dance company WOO, and a collaboration with poetry slammer Lee Harvey Asphalte.
