’’Instant #6899’’ Sat 9.15pm
’’Territoire #6899’’ Sun 4pm
Gwendoline Robin climbs a ladder on fire, ties rockets to her feet to go faster, lights up firecrackers on her head, walks on explosives, etc. This Belgian performer strolls, dances with danger and plays with fire.
“There is in the work of Gwendoline Robin an immediacy, a relation to the present time represented by the suddenness of the explosion, the essence of fire, the evanescence of smoke. It exposes us to surprise, fear, danger, relief, and awe, as well as to the artist’s own brand of derisive humour.”
Extract taken from the interview by Tania Nasielski.
In residence: 31 August - 4 Sept 09
