« 100 % Croissance »

Xavier Kim is a French multimedia circus artist, an acrobat, and a dancer. Wei Chen Yang is a dancer from Taiwan. They examine from the point of view of the body, the social and economic environment of a flourishing management that devours all sorts of flexibility. These three artists create a politically charged circus or dance show, by using their virtuosity to talk about globalisation and competitive markets. A first stage of the project has been presented at Les Subsistances during the “Ça compte!” WeekEnd in March 2006.

Xavier Kim is a formally trained dancer and circus artist. He co-founded in 97 the collective called "La Muse Gueule" with which he set up camp in places of work and experimentation. In this field of experimentation, he got to know the art of clowning, and discovered acrobatics. He has worked with Taiwan-born choreographer Lin Yuan Shang for Petites Formes Chorégraphiques Itinérantes (produced in 2002) then joined Kitsou Dubois in Analogies (produced in 2004). Exploring multimedia techniques, he creates shows that aim to take a critical look at today’s world. In 2002, he was awarded the prize of Best budding talent in the Circus category with # 0.0, a show he presented at Les Subsistances during the Intranquilles Festival 2004.

Wei Chen Yang is a dancer and a choreographer from Taiwan. In 2002, she produced a show called Entre-Champs in partnership with video maker Hsin-Yinh Wang. She also performed in various productions all around the world, like Livant Raiz’s Point of View in Amsterdam, Christine de Smedt’s 9X9 at the Schaubühne am leniner Platz in Berlin and Fuite by Lin Yuan Shang at the Scène Nationale d'Evry.

“Together with Pierre-Yves de Jonge, we continue on our path between digital and performing art, an hybridizing process between dance and circus (bodies juggling on the floor and on the walls, acrobat-objects, a zest of clowning about) as well as some video storyboard linked to a soundtrack. A laugh-out-loud, excited and distorted plunge designed to answer the question: "How does the material body (and what it involves) adapts (or not) to what constantly requires more mobility, more flexibility, more bounce, and a better ability to establish new connections and to expand one’s network?".
