Biographie
Tin Ayala (né·e en 1998, Andes) explore les réponses postcoloniales andines à partir de la notion de « Cholo » — mot d’origine autochtone utilisé pendant la colonisation pour désigner les descendant·es d’Indigènes et d’Espagnols — envisagée comme une identité frontalière capable de re-signifier les conceptions coloniales de la race. Son travail utilise l’abigarramiento comme méthodologie pour créer des outils de célébration et des stratégies performatives de joie collective, transformant les rituels festifs en espaces de contestation des héritages coloniaux et d’émergence de nouvelles formes de communauté. Iel a étudié au département Geo-Design de la Design Academy Eindhoven (Pays-Bas) ainsi qu’à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.
Tin Ayala (b. 1998, Andes) examines Andean postcolonial responses, based on the “Cholo” — word of Indigenous origin used during colonisation to categorize descendants of Indigenous and spanish— as a border identity capable of resignifying colonial notions of race. Their work employs abigarramiento as a methodology to create tools for celebrations and performative strategies for collective joy, turning rituals of festivity into spaces that challenge colonial legacies and create possibilities for community. They studied at the Geo-Design department of the Design Academy Eindhoven in The Netherlands and in the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.

RÉSIDENCE – ATLAS : Créer depuis le Sud, habiter le Nord
ATLAS: Créer depuis le sud, habiter le nord est un projet né du besoin de nommer et partager les stratégies de création et de résistance d’artistes et d’auteur·ices issu·es du Sud global vivant en Europe. Il cherche à rendre visibles les négociations invisibles menées face aux institutions, aux récits dominants et aux héritages coloniaux qui façonnent nos territoires. À travers une résidence de deux semaines transformant l’espace d’exposition en atelier d’écriture, d’édition et d’impression, le projet aboutira à une publication collective et hybride — entre manuel, fanzine et recueil critique — documentant des voix et pratiques créatives situées “depuis” le Sud. Conçue comme archive vivante et outil pédagogique, cette édition vise à nourrir une réflexion sur les conditions de production artistique en contexte postcolonial. L’espace sera ouvert au public, proposant un coin lecture et des échanges autour du travail en cours. La restitution prendra la forme d’une lecture collective et d’une présentation de la première édition, en collaboration avec miligrana éditions et l’atelier Toner Toner pour l’impression et la reliure.
ATLAS: Creating from the South, Living in the North is a project born from the need to name and share the creative and resistant strategies developed by artists and writers from the Global South living in Europe. It seeks to make visible the often-invisible negotiations with institutions, dominant narratives, and colonial legacies that shape our territories. Through a two-week residency transforming the exhibition space into a workshop for writing, publishing, and printing, the project will culminate in a collective, hybrid publication — part manual, part fanzine, part critical anthology — documenting creative voices and practices speaking from the South. Conceived as a living archive and pedagogical tool, this edition aims to foster reflection on the conditions of artistic production in postcolonial contexts. The space will be open to the public, featuring a reading corner and opportunities for dialogue around the work in progress. The residency will conclude with a collective reading and presentation of the first edition, in collaboration with miligrana éditions and Toner Toner studio for printing and bookbinding.
