David Perreard

David is a director and art director, a graduate of the Villa Arson in 2015 (art school in Nice).
They met in 2021 during the New Magic training at the CNAC. Beyond their interest in the diversion of reality, it is above all their shared taste for popular comedies, gags and absurd humour that pushes them to collaborate on this first project. Together, they seek to build hybrid setups, where strangeness emerges from the everyday. Their work is rooted in a simple and direct writing, guided by laughter, surprise and pleasure around incongruous situations.

David Perreard
Born in 1990, lives and works in Paris. David Perreard graduated from the Villa Arson (Nice) in 2015, after a stint at FAMU (the film school of Prague) in 2013. David is a video maker and art director. He makes all kinds of videos, whether for installations in exhibitions or music videos and other digital content. His videos are always filled with special effects (mechanical and digital), puppets and various oddities. For David Perreard, it is about re-thinking the practice of film and video not only as art but also as an (industrial) form of magic. Since 2018, he has been making sets and props for cinema, TV, advertising and live performance. Whether it be Céline Dion giant puppets for the Cabaret Madame Arthur, chic set design for the luxury industry or bling bling objects for rap music videos. Since 2022, David has been collaborating with the group Ascendant Vierge, for which he makes numerous videos and artistically coordinates their 2023 tour.
An intimate, offbeat one-man show in which a puppet nailed to a hospital bed confides in us under the influence of painkillers. Equipped with headphones, the spectators plunge into its memories, fantasies and hallucinations. Summoning magic, clowning, object theatre and sound illusions, the show creates a singular sensory experience, like a psychoanalysis, funny and disorienting. With David Perreard and Victor Hollebecq, the hybrid setup of puppetry, new magic and immersive sound creates an experience on the border between reality and hallucination. The bedridden body becomes a small theatre of mechanisms and projections, where ASMR and binaural sound blur perceptions. Little by little, this absurd tête-à-tête slips into a form of farcical psychoanalysis, where we no longer quite know who is speaking, nor where the voices are coming from.
