Residence

What exactly is a residency?
Artists coming from various places and using different media can be awarded a residency at Les Subsistances - the length of which depends on the project -, financial support, a working space, and the administrative and technical support required. Les Subsistances are a flexible work and production tool for artists, which offers them various ways to explore areas of interest in the world of today within the realm of their own work.

How does that work?
Most of the artistic projects created at Les Subsistances are developed onsite through a multiple-step process, including several encounters with spectators, before the actual performances in France and abroad. Throughout the year, several companies are in residence at Les Subsistances simultaneously, which often leads to a fruitful exchange of ideas.
All kinds of ideas are welcome, and artists may set up their own schedule depending on their own individual artistic process (to last a fortnight, a month, or longer).

I would like to apply for a residency at Les Subsistances. How do I proceed?
Residencies at Les Subsistances are specifically designed for performing arts (theatre, dance, circus, performance art). They emerged from a common desire for adventure. Les Subsistances’ artistic team selects projects with a specific profile.   There are no formal application forms. However, you can send us a factfile on your work.
