Syncretismus Hypothesi
Live Music / Performance

Composer and performance artist Jennifer Walshe imagines a musical creation in which the occult and paranormal no longer seems like enemies of the senses/meaning.

Composer Jennifer Walshe, sound artist Mario de Vega, and Ensemble Hiatus all see writing music the same way: the world itself is music theory with its chaos and harmonies, its living beings and plants, its microbiota. This collectively written concert liberates our environment’s and technologies’ voices, beliefs, and energies. The resulting syncretism—nourished by the artists’ Irish, Mexican, and rural cultures—remains a theory: the theory of a world and an artistic field in progress.
