La Trève
Film documentaire / Creation

A hallucinatory trip into the heart of Velay’s volcanic plateau, La Trève is cinematagraphic performance art. Eschewing the classic screen format, it combines an immersive, documentary experience with traditional and experimental music.

In le Velay, la treva (ghost, in Occitan) is an startling manifestation: the cause of optical illusions.

Designed as a hallucinatory trip into the heart of Velay’s volcanic plateau, La Trève is cinematagraphic performance art that leaves the classic screen format behind by creating an immersive, documentary experience. Partially filmed during a 15-day hike between le Puy-en-Velay and Mont Mézenc, la Trève asks what it means to live somewhere, to roam, and to question our relationship to the land.

“What is a landscape that spreads out before us, or one that swallows up? The feeling of being sucked in, swallowed up by the eyes, makes you dizzy.”
