Life arises in the cardboard boxes on a stage similar to a record player, and a character wears himself out trying to keep pace with a fast and unstable world. Like a modern Buster Keaton, he tries to stay in the whirl of activity, like an acrobat, a tightrope walker, a king of contortions, to continue to live with his briefcase, his desk, his job, his house. Martin Zimmerman, a circus artist, and Dimitri de Perrot, a DJ-turntable artist, create a world of wrapping and packaging and turn it into a poetic and musical mechanism showcasing rare virtuosity. They show the energy needed to hang on, in a world where everything is out of control. A spectacular and sensitive show full of humour.
Following Gopf, a show performed during the Ça chauffe! WeekEnd in 2005, Les Subsistances continue their partnership with Zimmermann and de Perrot. Gaff Aff will be performed at Les Subsistances as part of the project La Belle Voisine. It has been awarded the Best Show Prize at the Mimos Festival 2007 in Périgueux.
Martin Zimmermann graduated in the “Nadj year”, 1996, at the Centre National des Arts du Cirque. He founded the Compagnie Anomalie in 1995. He worked on Le Cri du Caméléon and the fictional film Les Caméléons, by Joseph Nadj, and on Anomalie’s 33 Tours de piste. In 1998, he founded the company MZdP and directed the shows Gopf (1999), Hoi (2001) and Janei (2003). In 2006, he co-created the company called Zimmermann & de Perrot.
Dimitri de Perrot plays on the turntables and is one of the founding members of MZdP (Gopf,Hoi and Janei). In parallel, he worked in partnership with Die Geholten Stühle (Zentralton, Zurich) and Martin Zimmermann and recorded several albums. In 2006, he co-created the company called Zimmermann & de Perrot.
