In the space of three years, Les Subsistances have invented a new type of cultural space

Les Subsistances is a powerful work and production tool whose philosophy is different from that of traditional cultural economics. It is a flexible tool, which adjusts to the scale of the artists it works with and knows how to use, together with the artist, different types of networks. With residences available to dance, theatre and contemporary circus companies, Les Subsistances organise durable partnerships with artists of various experiences and origins with the following objectives: research, artistic project structuring, production and distribution. These residences then lead to “social gatherings”: Some of them take place regularly as part of the development of the project:: discussions, ongoing projects, public rehearsals, etc. Others are events: Creative WeekEnds, shows, Les Intranquilles Festival, etc. In the past couple of seasons, the amateur practice workshop has grown a lot.
Exacting artistic practices and quality follow-up mean that a very diverse audience can come and sharpen their views on contemporary creation. Les Subsistances invent a new type of relationship with the public and work with the newest forms of performing arts.

With the École Nationale des Beaux Arts moving in, Les Subsistances have become a unique site in France, comprising a training centre for visual arts students and a professional place dedicated to  residences and artistic productions in performing arts.
