Before the shows of the Ça Tchatche! WeekEnd First production / Theatre performance 3.4.5.6 april 08
Is life with several languages a life with several hidden lands? What does French language evoke to those for whom it isn’t their mother tongue? Author Olivia Rosenthal examines this peculiar relationship to the French language for people who have only learnt it later on in life. She met around twenty old and recent immigrants to listen to their “stories of languages”. She used these stories as inspiration to write ten short theatre pieces. Some of these interviewed witnesses and other amateurs, with the help of director Marie Vialle, will perform on stage various plays, reconstructed stories, words which could belong to all people who live in several languages. They will perform, before the shows of the Ça Tchatche! WeekEnd, these short “Levers de rideau” (raisings of the curtain) - around 10 minutes long.
