Jeanne Mordoj

La Poème, grand format

From 26 to 29 march

Création  Performance

Hottentot Venus? A witch from the beginning of time? A woman come back from silence? La Poème is all of that at once. She was here two yeas ago for the first edition of Mode d’emploi. Her new avatar sings, burps, growls, gargles, and plays with forms. Under the skin of this almost-animal hides Jeanne Mordoj, who writes a crazy kind of portrait with her body and voice. An egg juggler and shell layer, her strong, smoldering, poetic soul shines through her tough hide. Neither circus nor dance, her solo blends everything at once and takes us to what it means to be human: between comedy and tragedy.

Jeanne Mordoj
Jeanne Mordoj was born in Paris in 1970 and discovered the circus at 13, at the Saltimbanques school in Chenôve. She went on tour for the first time at 18, with Cirque Bidon, in horse-drawn caravans in Italy. With the street-theater company La Salamandre came performances and events between 1990 and 1998. In 2000, her first solo, 3 p’tits sous, solo de femmes, directed by Vincent Lorimy and Jérôme Thomas. In 2010, after Eloge du poil, she created Adieu Poupée, co-written and directed by Julie Denisse. In 2012, given carte blanche at Les Subsistances, she created La Poème, a short, continuously evolving piece, and works here with joy on the topic of the female body.

La Compagnie Bal
La Compagnie Bal was created in 1993 by Bertrand Boss, Vincent Filliozat and Jeanne Mordoj.
