How would a “Martian” react to physical or psychological pain? When others are in pain, aren’t they always “Martians” to us? Sarah Barh, a young visual and performance artist, focuses on alterity in her work, questioning difference as a point of view and normality as differences in perception.
It is precisely these differences—between the meta- and the pataphysical, the Earthling and her Doppelgänger, Tintin and Fantasio, the insane and the abnormal—that form the basis of various reconstructions that make it possible to answer the worrisome question: “what’s it like to be a Martian?”.
Sarah Bahr : After her studies at the Institut des Études Théâtrales Appliquées in Gießen under the direction of Heiner Goebbels, Sarah Bahr studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. She has since taken her work in a variety of directions, combining visual arts, poetry and directing. She recently presented her work at the “actOral” festival.
