Performance - Dance

Thursday 27, Friday 28 & Saturday 29 September 2007 at 10pm

The Breast piece (Praticable) is one of the chapters of the Praticable project, built around various research stages, productions, and communication between the choreographers/performers Alice Chauchat, Frédéric de Carlo, Frédéric Gies, Isabelle Schad and Odile Seitz. All five young choreographers and dancers attempt to invent a new way to communicate and experience dancing. They are theory freaks however they never forget to place energetic and moving bodies at the heart of their performance.

Anatomically speaking, breasts are glands, but they also are the true symbols of femininity. Motherly or erotic, virginal or pornographic, they are almost always the attributes of a certain mythology of the female form. The dancing here uses the imagination to create the image of a “real” body, by creating ambiguous relations between the ideas of the body, genre and reality. Alice Chauchat and Frédéric Gies examine with this show the relations between a “natural” body and its cultural representations.
